Course Descriptions
Comptia A+
This course provides students with a CompTIA certification path designed to help them prepare for and pass the CompTIA A+ 220-901 and 220-902 exams to receive CompTIA A+ certification. It is recommended, but not required, that students have at least 9 to 12 months of hands-on experience in a lab or in an IT field before attempting their CompTIA A+ certification.
The course assignments, including readings, quizzes, practice lab exercises, and exams, align with CompTIA A+ certification competencies. These competencies include those related to hardware, networking, mobile devices, hardware and network troubleshooting, Windows operating systems, other operating systems and technologies, security, software troubleshooting, and operational procedures. Additionally, the course offers students CompTIA A+ practice exams. This course covers the CompTIA A+ 220-901 & 220-902 exams. Passing the certification exams gives students a 3-year certification.

Comptia Security+
This course covers network security concepts, threats and vulnerabilities, access control, identity management, cryptography, and much more. Although CompTIA does not impose any prerequisites, the organization recommends that cert candidates obtain the Network+ credential and have at least two years of IT administration experience with a security focus. To obtain the Security+ certification candidates must pass on exam, SY0-501. Passing the certification exams gives students a 3-year certification.

Comptia CySA+
This course covers the use of system threat-detection tools, as well as the use of data and behavioral analytics to secure applications and systems from risks, threats and other vulnerabilities. CySA+ certification holders are not only able to monitor network behavior, but analyze results and create solutions to better protect against advanced persistent threats (APTs), intrusions, malware and the like. CompTIA describes CySA+ as a bridge cert between the Security+ credential (requiring two years’ experience) and the master-level Advanced Security Practitioner Certification (CASP), which requires 10 years of experience. To earn a CySA+, students must pass a performance-based exam. Passing the certification exams gives students a 3-year certification.

Digital Media I
In today’s media environment, it is essential for content creators to be comfortable working with many types of media. In this course, students will examine current professional and consumer trends in digital content creation and social media, following both the technological and theoretical advances that have disrupted mediums such as print, television, and film. This course is part of our certification in Film Production with a specialization in Digital Media, which provides newcomers and veterans with the comprehensive set of skills necessary to create content for many different types of social media platforms.

Digital Media II
This specialization prepares students for careers in video production, graphic design, and interactive media/Web development. Job roles include social media manager, videographer, podcast announcer, video producer, graphic designer, animator, and Web developer. This curricular specialization includes learning experiences in media production, script writing, studio operations, special effects and animation, motion media history, and documentary.

Graphic Design
In this course, students gain an understanding of the basic elements and principles of visual communication while exploring relationships between form and content to expand on the concept and meaning. Through a series of lectures and projects, students learn how to work with realistic graphic design boundaries and processes. Students are encouraged to explore and experiment with media, typography, techniques, and color application when solving problems, acquiring a basic level of familiarity and skill to translate communicative imagery within the digital environment.

Digital Marketing
This foundational course provides students with an overview of digital marketing and the customer journey, as well as an introduction to the fundamentals and framework of digital marketing strategies. Students will learn about digital strategies as they relate to modern marketing, developing target personas, branding and its relevance to the digital world, marketing campaigns, personal branding, and more.

Drone Technology
DSDT was the first proprietary school in the State of Michigan to offer unmanned systems education and training. This course introduces unmanned aerial systems (UAS) including drones and autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) with sensors including those for obstacle avoidance, other instruments, and payloads that rely on complex algorithms and have various uses. Unmanned aerial systems represent new and growing opportunities in the civilian, government, and military job markets. Additional areas of UAV modeling and control fundamentals, ground based systems, visual and electro-optical aspects of navigation, obstacle and terrain avoidance systems, modular on-board processing systems, and current applications are explored.
Students learn about the significant regulations impacting the unmanned systems operations and the differences with manned systems. Paramount to all aviation operations, safety assessment, functional requirements, UAS integration, and sensitivity analysis are explored. Students demonstrate proficiency in UAS programming, preflight, flight operations, post flight inspection, and mission analysis and debriefing. The key objective of this course is to achieve the FAA’s Part 107 and to gain experience with the many evolving applications within the industry.
No previous knowledge of drones, flying systems, autonomous technology, or flying experience is required.

3D Printing / Modeling
3D Printing is a method of creation that requires some computer skills. This class will allow students to understand the potential and limitations of 3D Printing through a build intensive design project. This course will include prototyping new concepts, troubleshooting potential errors while 3D printing, creating a piece of art, customizing existing designs to adapt to changing needs.
Students will gain a working knowledge of multiple pieces of software currently being used widely in multiple industrial settings. The course will also include extensive training and use of free programs and websites for prototyping, slicing, and scanning used throughout the 3D Printing field.
The understanding of 3D Scanning and Photogrammetry will be conveyed to students allowing for reproduction of existing models.
Note: To successfully engage and complete a 3D printing training course, student should possess some basic computer literacy and a basic understanding of graphic design is preferred
