Amount: $5,000.00 – $10,000
Requirements: Open to recent high school graduates aged 17-19
Application Process: Essay Submission
Word Count: Minimum of 800 words
Essay Topic: “How My Passions Drive My Future” – Reflect on your high school experience and elucidate how your passions and interests have intricately shaped your goals and aspirations for the future

The Ada Lovelace Scholarship is geared towards empowering women seeking a career in technology. Named after the pioneering woman in computing, Ada Lovelace, this scholarship aims to dismantle barriers and promote diversity in the tech industry. It is a needs-based scholarship, prioritizing candidates who display a distinct financial need in addition to their commitment to reshape their career paths. The Ada Lovelace Scholarship is an ideal opportunity for women seeking to make a profound impact in the tech world, with the ambition to follow in the footsteps of its namesake.


Amount: $5,000 – $10,000
Requirements: Possession of a High School Diploma or GED, Assigned gender Female at birth
Eligibility: Limited to students enrolling in a Technology program

The Path to Diversity Scholarship is a $5,000 needs-based award dedicated to supporting individuals from historically underserved communities in their academic endeavors. This scholarship recognizes the imperative for increased representation and inclusivity in various fields, aiming to dismantle financial barriers that might impede progress. To be eligible, applicants must belong to a historically underserved community, identify as Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color, and demonstrate clear financial need. By providing this financial assistance, the Path to Diversity Scholarship seeks to foster diversity and cultivate a more inclusive environment in academia and beyond.

Essay Topic: Describe your personal experiences as a member of a historically underserved community.  Discuss the significance of diversity in academic and professional settings.  Detail how this scholarship will contribute to your academic pursuits and future career.

The HEROES Scholarship Fund is dedicated to assisting veterans who are not eligible for traditional education benefits, as well as their immediate family members – children and spouses. This scholarship is built on a foundation of gratitude and respect for the selfless service and sacrifices made by our veterans. It aims to provide much-needed educational support to these heroes and their families, enabling them to pursue their academic aspirations and enhance their prospects. The HEROES Scholarship Fund is a token of appreciation, serving to ensure that every veteran and their loved ones have the opportunity to transform their lives through education.


Amount: Covers the Cost of Tuition and Fees
Requirements: Possession of a High School Diploma or GED
Eligibility: Must be a Veteran or an immediate family member or spouse of a Veteran
Application Process: Submit an Essay
Word Count: 800 – 1000 words
Essay Topic: Discuss your (or your immediate family member’s) military experience and the challenges faced in transitioning to civilian life and education. Describe how this scholarship will contribute to advancing your educational and career goals.   Reflect on what the term “hero” means to you.

Application Process and Eligibility

Prospective and current DSDT students are invited to apply for these scholarships by submitting a well-crafted essay along with proof of high school graduation or current high school transcripts. It’s crucial to note that each scholarship has specific individual requirements, and applicants are strongly encouraged to thoroughly review these criteria before initiating the application process. This ensures that candidates understand and fulfill the unique prerequisites associated with each scholarship opportunity.

Maintaining Scholarship Eligibility

To remain eligible for the scholarship, recipients are required to adhere to the following conditions:

  • Timely Course Registration:
    • Register for classes within 30 days of receiving the award notification to ensure prompt enrollment.
  • Academic Performance:
    • Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 throughout enrollment, reflecting a commitment to academic excellence.
  • Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP):
    • Uphold a minimum Standard Academic Progress (SAP) level of 70%, demonstrating consistent progress toward educational goals.
  • Attendance Requirement:
    • Attend classes regularly and limit absences to no more than three sessions during any cohort. This stipulation is in place to maximize the likelihood of success for scholarship recipients.

Adherence to these eligibility criteria ensures that scholarship recipients not only receive financial support but also actively contribute to their academic success and the overall success of the scholarship program. Failure to meet these conditions may result in the reevaluation of scholarship eligibility.

How It Works

Following the submission of scholarship applications, our Board of Directors meticulously reviews each application, assessing eligibility criteria and financial needs. Award recipients will be promptly notified upon the completion of the selection process. Once selected, an Admissions Representative will reach out to recipients to facilitate the registration process for classes. This streamlined approach ensures a seamless transition from the scholarship application phase to class registration for successful awardees.

Further Support

In addition to the scholarships outlined earlier, DSDT students may qualify for a variety of financial aid options, including Veteran Education Benefits such as the GI Bill, Montgomery, and VR&E, as well as Federal Student Aid. Other avenues of support include MIworks Jumpstart!, Tuition Assistance, Detroit at Work!, Institutional Payment Plans, and access to Private Student Loans.
