The Business Information Technology Specialist Diploma Program consists of 7.5 courses designed to prepare students for careers in today’s technology driven workplace. The program provides comprehensive training in essential information technology disciplines, including networking, cybersecurity, server administration, cloud computing, Linux systems, and penetration testing.
Students begin by building a strong foundation in core IT concepts and technical fundamentals. Instruction then progresses into more specialized areas, allowing students to develop practical, hands on skills aligned with current industry standards and workforce expectations. In addition to technical training, the program includes Health and Safety and Job Readiness to support professional development and workplace readiness.
Graduates complete the program prepared to pursue industry recognized certification examinations and to enter the workforce with the technical competencies, critical thinking skills, and professional habits necessary for success in a variety of IT roles.
The Business Information Technology Specialist Diploma Program provides foundational and specialized training in networking, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and related IT disciplines. Students graduate prepared to pursue industry certification examinations and to obtain entry level to mid-level employment in the information technology field.
To prepare students for post-program success by providing a rich learning environment utilizing research-based methods of instruction and providing access to relevant and current resources and materials. Students will participate in a challenging and worthwhile program based on current industry/academic expectations. The Business Information Technology Specialist Program will provide students with a roadmap to gainful employment by instruction in 7.5 courses.

This course provides students with foundational knowledge and practical skills in project management, with an emphasis on information technology and business environments. Students explore the project lifecycle from initiation and planning through execution, monitoring, change management, delivery, and formal closure. Key topics include scope, scheduling, resources, cost, risk, issues, stakeholder communication, quality, procurement, and project documentation. Through practical exercises and realistic IT scenarios, students apply project management concepts to technology projects such as network upgrades, cloud migrations, software implementations, and cybersecurity initiatives. The course also introduces traditional and adaptive project management approaches and prepares students to effectively support and participate in projects using industry-recognized project management practices.

This course provides students with foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to understand, configure, support, and troubleshoot modern computer networks. Students explore networking fundamentals, Ethernet, network devices, physical infrastructure, IPv4 and IPv6 addressing, subnetting, protocols, network services, wireless technologies, and common diagnostic tools. Through hands-on activities and realistic troubleshooting scenarios, students practice configuring network devices and endpoints, identifying connectivity problems, interpreting network information, and resolving common technical issues. The course also introduces essential network security and performance concepts while emphasizing systematic troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and secure technical practices. The course prepares students for further study in networking, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and information technology infrastructure, as well as entry-level technical support roles and the Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) Networking certification examination.

Through hands-on labs, demonstrations, and realistic scenarios, students practice vulnerability assessment, security monitoring, incident response, system hardening, and the identification and escalation of potential security concerns. The course emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, documentation, and the application of appropriate security controls in Windows, Linux, macOS, network, and cloud-connected environments.
